Yes been making yet more bleeding collages today. I have produced a set on tube maps as i had little funds for another load of postcards, but not too bothered about this as they have turned out fairly nice anyhow. Here are two of them scan in and ready for your your eyes to eat them up with joy ! enjoy, I'm off to bedfordshire (Bed).

Karen Grainger - MA photography student LCC.
Saw this series of photographs in the new gallery space at lcc this week they were so nice, and reminded me of being at home. This photo is one hundred times better than the woodland we get in stratford upon avon, but reminds me of the days of hitting the woods in the summer and winter taking photographs of trees, mist, frost and different light coming through the trees creating brilliant colours and tones. Really enjoyed these photographs for these reasons, memories and now looking forward to taking a few films in the woods when i go home for christmas. I also used this image for a college. I've put smiles, wildness and nakedness into the original photograph the reason i'm not sure, but im sure it will create some kind of story in someones head when viewing it.

LETTERPRESS WORKSHOP

Had my second letterpress workshop today which was great fun. learn't how too print bigger type and use the print machine correctly. It was nice to learn something new today a skill i can carry on getting better at and use within my projects which is exciting as the results are pleasing. The final prints have a lovely crisp final to the type and some pick up ink and create textures around the text which is also nice a less perfect result, but still looks brilliant. I personally enjoyed these less perfect prints today as they showed that we got a better understanding of the print machine and realized what we needed to do too make our prints clean and crisp, so it was cool for this to happen.

THE BIG CONVERSATION

Went to see MARTIN PARR and GRAYSON PERRY today at lcc watched them on a tv next to the main lecture hall. Didn't think i would be going as i feel like ill but thought it would of been worth it as they are two big artists. It was really interesting to watch two established artists in conversation and sharing their thoughts with us viewers. This hole idea of allowing more people to come and view big lectures via tv links is really well, there were a few little problems at the beginning but nothing too annoying. It was thought through and worked well...i'm looking forward too the next BIG event like this within UAL.
Need indesign and illustrator on this mac, would like a new mac that would be capaible of operating them both. Maybe not this green ?

TWELVE HOURS OF BEING AN EXTRA

YESTERDAY I WENT ALONG TO A VIDEO SHOOT FOR A BAND CALLED EIGHT LEGS WHO ARE A HOMETOWN BAND FROM STRATFORD UPON AVON. I WAS CALLED ALONG TO BE AN EXTRA IN THERE NEW SINGLE MUSIC VIDEO 'BEST OF ME'. IT CONSISTED ON BEING AN ANGRY MAN SUPPORTING A BIG FIGHT AND TO SHOUT ABUSE AT THE BAND/FIGHT BETWEEN SOME ANIMALS NEAR THE END OF THE DAY. THE VIDEO WAS BASED ON THE FILM 'FIGHT CLUB' SO BEING ANGRY LIKE THAT FILM WAS HARD AS IT'S FULL OF REAL ANGRY MEN. IT DID GET EASIER AS THE DAY WENT ON AS BEERS WERE SUPPLIED FROM START TO FINISH THIS KEPT US EXTRAS HAPPY.

IN ALL THE WHOLE DAY WAS REALLY GOOD FUN AS I GOT TOO SEE HOW A MUSIC VIDEO WAS PUT TOGETHER AND IT REALLY IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS, LOTS OF HARD WORK WENT INTO THE PIECE AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TOO SEING THE FINAL CUT IN A FEW WEEKS ILL KEEP YOU POSTED...

EROM

saw this on commercial street today really liked the simple illustration and gave me a few ideas towards my own work today...

KNOCKING THEM OUT THIS EVENING WHILE THINKING OF OUR OTHER PROJECT SO TIRED TONIGHT !

ONE HUNDRED OF THOSE

''I BROUGHT A PAIR OF THESE TODAY!"

Been thinking lots today on my project today wrote a few things down lots of spelling mistakes and nonsense. Liking the idea of making some sort of leaflet//poster based outcome then i have a big canvas to play with. Also make some badges, stickers etc along side it that would be cool and some print work on bags etc. Mainly thinking about illustrations and type work making a greener planet by using waste eating monsters i think as they are always good fun, and remember fun is good !!

RIP THEM WITH A KNIFE

These are interesting as recently been seeing a lot of billboards and advertising that has been ripped off walls and boards ready for new stuff, revealing layered previous advertisement's bringing through different colours, images and text which all seem to work and look interesting on the eye. So i have taken the title composition and taken into account what i have seen and creating these collages. I'm going to carry this on and create more.

MARKETPURCHASE

SOME MORE PROGRESS ON THE OLD COLLAGES, LUDLOW LOOKS LIKE A NICE PLACE TO GO TOO!

Also found these postcards at the market today. Thought they seemed a bit boring so I'm making them exciting and fun (funny) so people enjoy them again, I'm sure they were enjoyed at some stage of there life. Now they most likely feel stupid after what i have done to them oh well they are a good laugh, laughing is a good thing so they are good !

I have been to spitalfields market today to look for more collage materials. Had a rummage through a few old boxes of photographs, leaflets and things some really nice stuff in there. Found these old film envelopes which would of been used for storing film negatives. They have these brilliant simple print designs which are made up of these three colours black, blue or maroon keeping them bold and appealing, Things back in the day were so more exciting than today. I'm going to use these as back bones for some collages im in the process of doing as they are nice pieces to include and will make my work look better...AHH!!

POSTMANPAT

WORK! These are a few more collages that i have produced. It's also the direction i am taking them now using old leaflet's, envelopes and postcards. I like the idea that the backgrounds of these collages have their own little story to tell. Having this give them added character. It's also interesting to think they have already been used to send messages on before and now they are being used once more for a similar job !

SAW THE FLAMING LIPS TWICE

Went to see the Flaming Lips not once but twice in two nights at the Proxy in East London this week, they were so so incredible this band know how too make music check them out as well brothers !!

ED RUSCHA

Visited the Hayward Gallery this week to see the Ed Ruscha exhibition. I have only seen a few bits of his work on the internet so seeing this greater amount was brilliant. His photo realistic approach too painting is exciting and so incredible to see in real life as you really do get a great understanding of how your eyes work when viewing the paintings. You can see how they are built up in layers creating these brilliant dramatic back drops he creates mainly too show off the type and give the text in his pieces a deeper meaning to them. He uses the simple text and image approach with most of his painting which work well and creates a story in your head when looking at them.

The mountains in the last room that we saw were the ones that i had already seen on the interweb. When seeing them in the real you notice the great effects that have gone into the piece, and then realizing the shear size on it too. It has a bulge to it which i think gives the painting a certain weight to it making it look as heavy as it would be in real life. When you stair at the text in which case is 'The' long enough it becomes lost, becoming only a shape. The T of the The also adds to the bulge of the canvas like its ready to explode which is exciting.

Check it out yeah !

PROJECTERS

Projectors from Frieze and Zoo art fairs. I enjoyed the mechanics within the projectors and less enjoyed the projections they were PROJECTING 'but i do usually love a projection and have used them in the past' I would like too take these to the print room at some stage and do some larger things with them, maybe a dirrrrtttyy t-shiirrttt ????
