Sent my portfolio in for the deadline on tuesday morning this week. Thought i would try and bind it up and make a small book for it. This is my online portfolio as book form. I binded it with a sewing machine which has caused it to have a frail spine. This does not matter as it's just a first draft of the book and now i know to do it by hand when i print it for my folio folder. Would be nice to print this A3 but i dont think i'll ever have the funds for that. I will produce a nice little box of prints to go with my online portfolio prints of my books and things will be nice. All very exciting i would like to get a work placement at a printers ideally, as i would like to learn all about print processes, paper weights and different type of papers so i can then make books properly. At the moment i feel i approach this process in a rough way and would like to know more in this area. I am attending book binding workshops so hopefully i will be able to produce some nicer outcomes than this in the future when i learn more !

Went for a walk around Shoreditch to find any exciting galleries or inspiring places today. I came across this place JELLY. They do all sorts of print types litho, screen print, digital print, point of scale, packaging and direct mail and more...
When i was there i thought it would be a great place to do work experience as they do so much including book binding and printing. I would love to learn all about paper and its different properties, the ink processes and how printing works in industry. It got me excited seeing all of their outcomes in there office today so i picked up a business card and postcard from them for future reference. I would like too use them to see what they are really like as printers, but from eye looks a pretty exciting place too work and use !
Might give them a dong and see if i could do a few hours of work experience there?

Made a mock up version of a leaflet i would like to print for my portfolio. I will screen print this sometime this week and photograph it nicely for a page in my folio. I played with the typeface 'Futura LT book' chopped it up and stuck it back together then scanned it back into photoshop, wanted to corrupt the look of it a little so i did this.

Sometimes i wish i could drive.I would like a morris minor like this one. I would be able to go to Scotland to drive around the mountains and photograph the amazing landscapes up there, it would be a great place to go too. Maybe ill go who knows ? Someday i will go and i'll make a book about it and i would name it "When i went to Scotland" it would be brilliant...no it's going to be brilliant !!

I visited the barbican again today and put this up. It's six photograph's on the same mountain landscape and six paper cut mountain's infront on them. I wanted this to spark people's imagination and get them to think about being somewhere else other than the laundrette, It was cold today and a little snowy so i thought i would involve mountain's, and i also like them too great places to relax and think about things so again i thought this is a thinking place...
These will also make an appearance in my book, side by side photograph's should look really nice ?

Today i went to play in my space. Took another roll of film and positioned my first naked man into the space. Hopefully my little man will encourage people using the laundrette space to maybe take a few moments to write something down they are thinking or maybe a little drawing, sketch any kind of mark on the page would be nice. It give's us a feeling of how that person is feeling at the time, as the space i have chosen is boring and discouraging for many people. This will be interesting if it does work and look forward to seeing some results from this installation. But it is a risk that nothing will come of it and i would of wasted a day making this little man, anyhow here he is doing his 'ting!'.
